people keep saying the zoozones not suitable and worried for their well being I crumbled and spent food money on the cage, it means I am eating beans for a week but heck its one way to lose weight, money is soooooo unbelievably tight, my grandparents expecting more money from me yet it seems to do less, my food bill going up, stuff needed for the rodents as well as parts to repair crappy furniture from kay and co catalogue has really put the squeeze on.
I know the cage has a wire floor I have a table protector or vinyl to cover it then news paper and fleece to go on top.

Aye, i don't like mesh floors for rats as when they're older they can get their little weggies stuck!

I know the horror stories I read a fair few in my time thats why they are being lined with vinyl then cardboard then fleece, thats three layers to get through, they wont have their tiny feet touching mesh, but the zoozone apparently isnt good enough and this is cheaper than the second hand cages I have been looking at, sorry but no matter how much a Jenny was when someone bought it I dont expect to pay £50 for a second hand cage with no ledges or anything when I can get a new one with shelving for £40.

Also if you just search 'rat cage' often Jennys and Toms and Furrets come up for cheap because people don't know what they are Wink

Turns out the mesh floor is not required so the mesh floor and the mesh shelves all bar one tiny one attached to the cage have been removed.
The one remaining was covered in a vinyl and then news paper and then fleece and some more newspaper.
this is before i decided to take the middle shelf out

Anyway the only mesh floor now is the tiny tiny shelf near the very top, covered with layers of stuff it is a fabulous cage very sturdy and I thought easy to put together, you can take or leave what ever mesh shelves or floor you like they are not integral to the cage.

They're great cages for back up i think. Whats the access like on the critter 1 (the cage you have)? On the critter 3 it's a bit pants but we manage. We're quite lucky in that the boys tend to come when they're called so they come to the door for lifting out. Very Happy

its got a bottom panel that opens on its side, then the top fully lifts off, I prefer this new cage to the leonardo to be honest, for your money there is alot more room, I rather like it as a main cage maybe when I get some more money *sniggers cause lik thats gonna happen* I might upgrade the boys into one.
