A Close Call

So today i have gotten around to cleaning out all the stinky rodents.

I got to the girlies cage having popped them in the carrier while i do the task - only to find that to top door was ajar. Laid on top of the cage as though it had just forgotten to be fastened. Now. If i did this, then it would be from last clean out. If Jim (my OH) has done it then i don't know what point this week. If they have done it i am very surprised no one has been out having a wander. But they're all present and correct.

I am just very relieved that they are such silly girlies that they didn't even try to escape. I know when momma escaped she was a swine to catch - she kept coming for fuss and reassurance but then legging it. I'd have little chance catching them in this room as with the rest of the house it is so utterly full of crap.

Brown pant staining time. I have cheked and double heked the top lid and tucked the clips under the adjoining wire - so if they did it then it's not gonna do em much good now!

wow thats lucky and whats with all the escapee's right now its like some sort of season for ratties to try legging it.

It turns out PinkFaerie had warned me about the door being open. And i just thought she meant the cage wasn't clipped shut. Bloomin good job they didn't escape. So it's definitely been open a week!

I think they're just so very people orientated. Momma probably would've escaped if she'd noticed as she legged it when i was cleaning her out once. She was all for coming for cuddles but she hates being picked up as i don't think she was handled much by her previous owners - so catching her was a nightmare.

the only one I have who seems to like escaping is cookie but then he escapes to get at the girls, his son Ezio is like him to always trying to escape.

aww atleast none of them escaped. most of mine would of made an escape for freedom

I'm totally surprised they didn't.

comet did that a few weeks ago..he escaped while i was trying to do something in the cage. he hid under my bed..then when i went to get him he just disappeared..i spent 2 hours looking for him..found him hiding under the chest of draws!!!..once i found him he hid back under the bed..so i spent another hour trying to get him 3 hours it took me to get him back in the cage. once i did he didnt come out the cage for 2 days..he just slept ...i dont think he'll try that again in a hurry

Yeah Rusty (momma rat) was a bit funny with me and very jumpy for a couple of days after her escape.

She was soon back to ehr old licky self though <3
