today my little tiny runty angel had to be put down, the pnemonia gone he was finished with a heart defect, the vet said it was about time I said good bye that he had been through enough.
I have spent months hand rearing him spending nearly every waking moments together and now he is gone and it just feels so weird, because he was always with me I feel lonely despite having 17 others he was the one who was mommies boy and the only picture I have is me with my fat swollen face from the jaw surgery.

RIP little dude. You did everything you possibly could to help him. I'm so sorry. I lost one of our runts after spending hours hand feeding him and carting him about in the vain hope he would make it. I'm so sorry your little dude didn't make it. xx

thing was I had finally got rid of the pneumonia and thats when they could hear his heart so after all that he was going to have to be put down anyway, but they checked over all the babies and the rest are fine one has a bit of the snuffles so is on antibiotics.

See had the whiffles not been treated, he would likely have passed away anyway. Good on you for giving him that chance though. Poor little dude.

cleaning out his cage and taking it from my bedside table was one of the hardest things I have had to do, I have spent the rest of the day cleaning out the others, playing with them and making toys for them.

That's the best way, remind yourself why you keep them as it is so hard to lose them. For such little dudes they don't half leave a cavern in your heart when they pass.

I am entirely convinced they are the only rodents that actually love you back. At least in my experience anyway!

got up this morning mixed up his feed went to feed him and seeing the empty cage it hit me, my routine has been up in the morning see him first, anyway my family have been "oh its just a rat and he was not that old." like that makes a difference, I anyway had a treat this morning my gran gave me her card sent me to pets at home with my aunt who ripped apart my appearance and called me soft for caring about a rodent, but on the plus side got a neat disco ball for cookie and houdini's cage in the bird toys section, got some nice yogart drops, rat food the muslei and pelts to add too their food and then some hay for piggies.
Gazed at the rats there but resisted me thinketh 17 is more than adequate, got all the babies out one sex at a time to play, they adore the pool and pea dunking, I love rubbing them dry to put them back to bed, having a giggle right now houdini is out sniffing my foot, amazed he hasnt dropped dead my socks are rancid from my old trainers Laughing

I left my boys cookie and houdini in my room last night so I woke up to them this morning which helped.
The engrave came today going to cut his name into a little wooden cross in the garden.
